Public Meeting – Lois Creek/Kimberley Creek Logging Imminent
Tembec is scheduled to commence logging within the Lois Creek Recreational Trails area as early February 1, 2008. This is the first phase of a possible multi-phase logging plan that will ultimately clear most of the forest within the trail system, severely impacting the natural aesthetics of the trails and area viewscape enjoyed year-round by many residents and visitors of Kimberley. Further concern has been raised by Morrison Subdivision residents that logging within the Kimberley Creek Watershed may have a negative impact on flooding.

Old meets new in Philip’s music
olive writes "Shane Philip’s is coming to beat his drum, strum his guitar, and blow his horn – or rather, his didgeridoo. The multi-talented one-man band hits The Edge Pub’s on Thursday December 27 and Friday December 28. “It’s one of our first instruments ever. It comes from Australia and it’s where all the wind instruments came from. This is where it all began and a big hollow tube is all it is – very simple!” said Philip of the didgeridoo. “With the didgeridoo and the drums, they’re very tribal, very primal, very ancient instruments. But then I combine that with an electronic kit that I use. I’ve heard some people say ‘Hey that’s like techno, that’s almost like techno folk’. And it’s kind of true. It’s like the old meets the new, the modern meets the ancient. I’ve described it as just groove music, rhythm music.”"
