A group of parents are trying to build a water spray park in Kimberley. This will benefit residents and visitors. Up to now parents wanting to take their children to a spray park have to go into Cranbrook and, of course, once in Cranbrook they go to DQ and then WalMart whereas if we had a spray park here then it's off to The Ice Cream Hut or Black Bear and then the Dollar Store. Having a spray park will be a benefit to local businesses. Read all about these initial stages at this Daily Bulletin piece: http://www.dailybulletin.ca/article/20100429/KIMBERLEY0101/304299929/-1/kimberley/parents-lobby-for-spray-park[/url]

I love this idea -- I hope that the people involved are using their heads and suggesting either one of the two best spots.... The old Pool sites!!

Water is there, change rooms and sewer are there and if you use the chapman camp site half the excavation is done.

Good luck guys!!!

The preferred location is Rotary Park where Julyfest bocce takes place but the two pool locations are certainly on the list.

I agree that Rotary would be nice and central -- but cost efficient (a better sell to the town) would be the already existing old pool sites. Thats why Chapman Camp is good -- central to marysville too! I agree its not in the open -- but on the other hand less traffic means less hazzard to our kids! And the shade there is way better if you make a day of it, and the parking is way easier too. I have been to Castlegars and Cranbrooks and Crowsnests Spray parks - My favorite is Cranbrooks up and away by the College - Quieter! Just an opinion -- has the grant apps been sent in to the bigger funders???

I appreciate the input and will certainly share this at our next meeting. We are investigating all the grants now but a lot of grants require us to have a portion of money already in hand that we leverage towards the grants. Also a lot of grants that were available even three years ago are not available now but we are looking at all of them.
