Going for another chance at the big time, MOBADASS frontman Earl Pereira (W ide Mouth Mason) is stepping back into the spotlight as he takes his solo project to the next level. With a team of up-and-coming Canadian talent, MOBADASS has had a busy year since the recent launch of their debut album Island Rock, highlights include:
- Winning 3 Toronto Exclusive MUSIC AWARDS!
- Being invited to open for 9-time Grammy Nominee Meshell Ndegeocello
- Invitations to Canada’s most prestigious showcases (WCMAs, JUNOFEST, CMW)
- Launching Island Rock Records with MOBADASS manager Kate Matthews - Helping launch Starlab Recording Studio
- Canada’s first solar powered recording studio
- Creating an anti-racism public service announcement to release along with their video
- Opening for Divine Brown, Daniel Wesley, Los Lobos, Blue Rodeo, and more!
- A highly successful music video shoot and fundraiser
Working with some of Canada’s brightest film talent, including Edmonton native Brett Manyluk (Passchendaele) working his Stedicam magic, MOBADASS recently filmed their first music video. “We’ve filmed on the best cameras in the world, with a crew of very talented individuals, so we really hope to see this on MuchMusic and MTV!” Pereira said excitedly in an interview with a Saskatoon news station. The shoot received coverage from every TV news station in Saskatoon, national radio attention, and a full page cover story in the city’s largest news paper. With radio supporting their single “Home To Me” across Western Canada, making a video was the next logical step and is sure to be a big hit with fans.
This month MOBADASS continues to make strides into the national spotlight as they play a showcase stacked with JUNO nominees during Vancouver’s JUNOfest!
